Hailing from 40 U.S. states, Washington D.C., and 29 countries, respondents from the Class of 2024 hail from around the globe and reflect a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences. Many took gap years, and almost all will graduate with little debt. A little under one-third do not identify as heterosexual and four percent identify as genderqueer or non-binary. About 90 percent of respondents have a parent or guardian who graduated with a four-year college degree, in stark contrast with the 37.7 percent of American adults who hold a bachelor’s degree.

Geography
About a third of respondents from the United States call the tri-state area — consisting of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut — home. New Jersey is the most represented state making up 18.7 percent of domestic students. 9.2 percent of respondents identified as international students.
Experience
Nearly a quarter of the Class of 2024 took an atypical path through Princeton by pursuing a gap — 16.1 percent after matriculating. And most are happy with their choice: only 4.3 percent of those who spent time away regret it. Eleven percent of respondents have taken out loans, though the University has reported last year that 83 percent of “recent seniors” graduated debt free and no financial aid given by the University takes the form of a loan. Many seniors also had the opportunity to take some money from the University, with 14.3 percent of respondents reporting having received greater than $50,000 in University funding and payment for campus jobs, excluding aid.
Identity
While all respondents in Cannon Dial Elm Club are straight, only 42 percent of Terrace Club members are straight. Among the entire Class of 2024, almost 70 percent are straight. The majority — 60.4 percent — are White and 8.8 percent of them are Hispanic or Latine.
